LeLe, CeCe, BeBe, and The Wolf each represent a milestone age group — feel free to adjust to your kid’s or teen’s level of understanding. They will be your Math-Money Coaches to guide your child’s (hey, and maybe even yourself!) Financial Literacy Journey!
Savings Money Goal
What you need: A jar, stickers, and markers
How it works:
- Kids choose a small savings goal (toy, book, outing).
- Families decorate the jar together and track progress with sticker “milestones.”
Skills developed: Goal setting, delayed gratification, and responsibility.
Needs vs. Wants Grocery Aisle Walk
How it works:
Walk through the store and have kids choose:
- 1 item that’s a need (bread, eggs, veggies)
- 1 item that’s a want (cookies, toys, treats)
- Remember, be sure to talk about "the why" for each item chosen (why is it a want, why is it a need) to cement your child's understanding.
Skills developed: Decision-making, values, and money awareness.
